The Flicker In The Neck

Out-of-the-blue kiss
Eyes will blink
Like a pulsating explosion
Evaluation, reflection
Then deliberation, as

The neck goes down and up
Flickering, a choking lightbulb
Each flicker a:

Can I

Should I

May I

Could you

Will you

Will I
Still.

The language of the body is more subtle than words
A twitch here,
A palpitation there
More primal than speech
I'll talk to you without mouths

So we never have to stop kissing.

The Train

you always see it in movies
the train puffing as it arrives
panting during transition
and huffing as it pounds off

with a train,
there's always a horizon
the vertical horizon of railway tracks
clear intent both its boon and bane

you always see it in movies
a girl; a boy; deliberating; not aware of
the invisible edge in a train station
that will drop through regret into remorse.

would you rather be the one leaving
or the one sending off?
what does your choice echo?
hurryupdecide before the train in my poem leaves

you always see it in movies
one(one half) of the two(one) stepping in
a step into the train
a step onto your heart.

the acceleration is the 'agonising'
in 'agonising speed'
the dreaded pick up
the cacophonous percussion of gears and pistons

doom... doom... doomDoomDoomDOOMDOOMDOOM

DOOM.

when the train finally leaves sight
is there relief
(or is it respite?)
arrivals, departures; all are part of transit.

so would you like to huff, puff, or pant

in other news, prom was alright :) it was on the 9th dec 2003, one year and a day after that special day ('not the red light, not the orange light, but-').oh well, took some pictures, hogged the silver iodide of everyone's cameras because i thought the digicam would spoil the curves of my suit. stayed with the class, watched man utd beat stuttgart comfortably (2-0) to advance through as group leaders into Q-finals. before that we had supper at newton watching lester and harris try to eat that mutton bone marrow thingy *urgh* played some cards, lounged around the hotel suite, played some PS (WWE and bball), slept fitfully.

things of note:

-yingshi was the surprise of the evening, elegant white gown, petite figure, i was besotted~~ ;)
-pee-zed won best-dressed :)
-as expected, waikit and that leggy babe (can't spell her name) won prom king and queen, which was a pleasant resolution i guess
-worried that everyone will forget to mail me the pictures taken (my address is in the Dolce Vita book *coughs*coughs*)
our class girls were all well-dressed for the evening, no major faux pas of any kind
-our banner thing for Mr Lim during Teacher's Day last year was printed in the Dolce Vita book too :)
